Useful Info About Liverpool Vacations

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Liverpool is a cosmopolitan city in the north west county of Merseyside in England.  The city of Liverpool lays claim to many firsts. The most broadly known of these world firsts was the the first commercial wet dock to be built on earth.  The docks in Liverpool were, by the early 1900’s, the world’s busiest accounting for the handling of forty percent of world trade. With such a massive amount of wealth it is not too surprising to discover that the city is home to some of the most interesting galleries and museums in Britain, with only one other city in England having more, London. In the article below I take a look at some of the other factors which help make the city of Liverpool such an enjoyable place to have a short city break.

Many folk think that Liverpool lacks any  country houses, castles, historical buildings and fortified houses and even though Liverpool Castle no longer exists there are a few buildings which are the envy of others.

The Fab Four

The Beatles, Paul, John, George & Ringo,  are one of the most successful acts in pop music in the world. The Beatles were Liverpudlians (people from Liverpool)and you are able to take a look at the homes in which they were brought up by taking a trip on one of the Liverpool tours. Obviously there are plenty more places to visit associated with the Beatles such as;  The Cavern Club, The Beatles Story, The Beatles Shop and Mathew Street Gallery, plus a hanful of pubs( The Jacaranda in Slater Street, Ye Cracke in Rice Street and The Grapes in Mathew Street) and an immense number of places mentioned in their songs such as Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane.

Beatle fans will be thrilled to learn that it is even possible to book Liverpool bed & breakfast in a Beatles themed hotel.

Other Visitor Attractions In Liverpool

To be 100% truthful the list of visitor attractions in the city of Liverpool is simply so huge that there is not enough space here to list them. Some of the popular include Speke Hall, The Merseyside Maritime Museum and The Albert Dock and The Tate Liverpool, Knowsley Safari Park and Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral and the Catholic Cathedral as well as many, many more.

Besides all of the visitor attractions above the city of Liverpool has long association with comedians.  The list of comedians coming from the city is absolutely enormous but some of the most well known include Kenny Everett, Craig Charles and Alexei Sayle, people who are older might recall Arthur Askey, Stan Boardman and Faith Brown or Jimmy Tarbuck, Les Dennis and Ken Dodd. So whenever you next visit Liverpool make sure that your bed & breakfast in Liverpool is in a Beatles themed hotel and that you pay a visit to a comedy club.

If if you do not like this idea maybe you should consider going to a soccer match? The city of Liverpool has 2 superb football clubs ( Liverpool FC and Everton FC both having has spectacular success. Their football grounds are found at Goodison and Anfield.
